Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Labeled

Okay, so i've been reading a lot about the emergent church (or is it just emerging), and the little skirmish taking place between two guys I actually like - Rob Bell and Mark Driscoll. I think both of these guys are amazing communicators and that they are both passionate followers of Jesus. But...

If you visit the blogosphere you'll find tons o' crap cutting down both of these guys, people arguing over which Christian slant will get you to hell quicker - reformed or emergent, people laughing at all of the Christians fighting and eating their own...

What I don't get is why we spend so much time worrying about what other people are doing (teaching, blogging etc.) and spend so little time focusing on what we SHOULD be doing, like say, sharing the gospel, caring for the oppressed, feeding the homeless, playing with our children...

It seems to me that someone once said "don't be so concerned with the speck in your brother's eye that you fail to notice the two by four jammed in your own socket" . . . or something like that. Oh yeah, that was Jesus.

Personally, I really don't like all the names and labels we come up with to address ourselves and others (emergent, reformed, etc.). I wish we could all just be Christ followers, but I guess people just need drama. I still think if Christians just lived like Jesus lived then Jesus would still be able to show his face in America. I'm sure there would be some people who still wouldn't like him, but at least he'd still have his good name. ...anyhoo, if you want to read a good article which helps bring a bit o' clarity to the whole "emergent" question then check this out...
